New pants, costume and a sweater!

Busy times lately!! And I've made a promise to spend less time on the Internet to myself! So I took myself off facebook, myspace and many other time wasting venues I had going...
Ofcourse I love to blog, its like my journal , so no cutting back or stopping it.

Recent projects...
From BWOF 7/03 I made this pair of pants and a navy pair. The bustier is from Burda, made for New Years. The jacket was from a Mc Calls pattern and I cropped it. The pants had a waist band that I left off. They fit much better without it. By the way I'm dressed I guess you can tell we were going out on the town!

I have several other things I've made lately that I will probably wear this weekend... along with the Bald Man's new shirt I made this week!

On the crochet front...
I took this picture Monday... now its done!!!! I can't believe I crocheted a whole sweater!!! And just in time because its turned off super cold here.
I'll be wearing it this weekend too...

Last Friday night we went out and saw my friend Caryn dance at Mirage. A beautiful dancer, she
looks radiant every time I see her. Below is a costume I guess you would call a joint effort...
I constructed the base and she embellished it with all the lovely ab crystals... we did good!
I love this costume... simple and elegant, it doesn't compete with Caryn, only complements her.
Many times bellydancers make the mistake of wearing a costume that is... "too much"
so it ends up looking like the costume is wearing the dancer instead of the other way around...

I'm working on another costume for Caryn... its gonna be a hot one! I can't wait for it to be done!!

Tunisian and Tapestry crochet on the hooks

It seems that no matter what or how many projects I have going one is always Tunisian and one is always a tapestry or fair isle type with color changes or pictures. I love this tapestry handbag. It’s going to be The perfect bag for October!! The pattern was included in a booklet that cane with a Simply Crochet magazine from the UK. It’s eating a lot of yarn so Caron one pound yarn is perfect! Cause there’s a lot of it and it’s an easy care for acrylic. Handbags tend to get thrown around a lot so washable with all this white is super important when I was choosing a yarn. I’ll be adding a liner too. And pockets .. I can not have a bag without inside pockets! For oh so long I’ve wanted to try the double hook Tunisian technique. I have Lily Chins dvd on it but she’s way over my head at this point! A Little Break... Back to Work!!!

My Bald Man and I took a little trip on the holiday weekend to Tellico Plains.. now growing up in Athens, TN I have been to the falls and river up there often.. but Bald Man, after living in TN for over 20 yrs had never been!!! Ofcourse we had to take Pac, he loves a good road trip! This is at the overlook going up to Indian Boundary Lake ... Down by Tellico river... Bald Man just had to 'test' the water and see how cold it was... yeah.. its pretty cold,,, mountain rivers typically are. Bald River Falls.... I am the first to admit we do not take advantage of living so close to such a beautiful area... many beautiful natural areas are so close to us ! I mean, in K town... we are so close to the Smokies,,, not far from lots of North Carolina mountain lakes.... we really should get out more and explore close to home. I used to enjoy hiking a bit... but after almost stepping right on a huge copper head up in Coker Creek I stopped... that was 16 yrs ago. I think it may be time to...

My 2017 Goals and planning to make 2018 even better!

2017 has been a wonderfully blessed year here. My husband fully got the Meishan registry off the ground and the Livestock conservancy was at our farm to look at them!! He was in Out Here magazine with them! And will be in the spring issue of Country side magazine also ! We got horses and started riding together for some much needed farm fun. I did a national seminar on milking donkeys! I found a sheep breed who's fleece I love and can also be milked that does well on my hilly rough lands! Score! All that is so wonderful!! But I had personal goals this year ! That was to get better at my favorite ever fiber art... Crochet!! When I really get my mind on accomplishing something I give it 100%. And well, expanding my crochet skills has been a lot more fun than my last 2 major goals.. which 7 years ago was to grow all our own food ( except coffee, chocolate and salt) mission accomplished! I'm not kidding And I hope I never have to do it again!! absolutely the hardest most stressf...
