a Marilyn Monroe Corset top and Cheshire Handbag

Here is my Corset top, made last week using S2440... Fabric was from Gail K's in ATL. The pattern is for a full formal dress but as you can see I only used the bodice... Its another one of those great cup size option patterns that makes my sewing life so easy! I added boning on all seams and straps. Changed the back zipper to a side zipper.Very easy to make. Ha! My new hand bag.... using another one of Ellen Medlock's patterns.... this is my 'Cheshire cat' handbag. Now this isn't really Cheshire cat fabric but thats what it reminds me of... you know when he disappears and alls left is his eyes and singing smiling mouth... Ofcourse the inside is lined with something silly... I love it! Its goofy and cute, with plenty of room! Here's the pants I made last week... they are finished now and like all the other pants I've made from this RTW copy the fit is right on. I got this fabric at Goodwill.... 5yrds for like $3! This week my sewing room is getting a bit of...

Lots of new stuff!!

I LOVE this bag.... Its another Ellen Medlock pattern. Its called the Karma Bag! My mom and I both took a class at the sewing expo 2 yrs ago and made one... but I didn't like the fabric they gave us so I gave it away.... and after 2 yrs I finally get around to making another one... In fabric I do like! This is vintage fabric from the attic of my great aunt in Nashville.... Mildred. The inside is lined with some adorable Scottie dog fabric I bought at Jo anns .... left over scraps from a wrap I made my mom for Christmas one year. The EXTRA awesome thing about this bag is its exchangeable because of the way the hardware is made.... just twist off two of the little tips... slide this purse off another on... twist caps on and you're off with a different bag! Now I gotta make some different bags to go with this! Which should help my ailing purse wardrobe.... cause I really love this bag! My B-day was last month (big 36!) and this is what mom gave me.... An adorable and much ne...

New pants, costume and a sweater!

Busy times lately!! And I've made a promise to spend less time on the Internet to myself! So I took myself off facebook, myspace and many other time wasting venues I had going... Ofcourse I love to blog, its like my journal , so no cutting back or stopping it. Recent projects... From BWOF 7/03 I made this pair of pants and a navy pair. The bustier is from Burda, made for New Years. The jacket was from a Mc Calls pattern and I cropped it. The pants had a waist band that I left off. They fit much better without it. By the way I'm dressed I guess you can tell we were going out on the town! I have several other things I've made lately that I will probably wear this weekend... along with the Bald Man's new shirt I made this week! On the crochet front... I took this picture Monday... now its done!!!! I can't believe I crocheted a whole sweater!!! And just in time because its turned off super cold here. I'll be wearing it this weekend too... Look at lil' pac... ...

BWOF Evening Outfit

I have made both of these patterns before. I love them! The shirt is from BWOF issue 3/08 and the pants from BWOF issue 7/03. This is obviously an evening outfit... but I have made these patterns in more casual fabrics. The pants are especially versatile! I have made them in a plain jersey for yoga pants, a small plaid stretch knit for casual and so on.... I made the pants this time with this textured, stripped knit and I added an extra big flair at the bottom for a dresser look. The top is a stretch metallic fabric. It has the burnt out looking holes in it with a black netting. Awesome fabric! The Bald Man has been waiting a year now for me to make something out of it... he picked it out for me while we were in Miami at Rex's fabrics. You do not want to know the cost per yd of this stuff!!! It took me so long to make something with it because I was afraid to cut it!!! The last top I made with this pattern I used a separating zipper for the front closure. This time I used this ho...

More new outfits, more new embroidery!!!

Take one Cropped denim jacket from Goodwill.... add lace done on the embroidery machine...and Instant cuteness... I embroidered a lace cross and placed it on the pocket as well.. I love adding embroidered lace to clothes!!! Thats my favorite thing the embroidery machine does... LACE! Here's another top from this fab New Look pattern! This shirt is so easy to make.. and so cute!!The main fabric used came from Panama City, Panama,,, the lace from Wal Mart. The skirt was made from a BWOF pattern.. very simple.. but I did add a lining... I made a pair of pants to go with the shirt too... Pants pattern is a BWOF . The fabric used for the pants came from the fabulous Gail K's in ATL . Its a stretch flannel! Super comfy!! The outfit below.... The skirt came from my mom's stash.. it was a circle skirt pattern panel.. and it just doesn't get much easier than that! The top is a simple bias cut pattern from BWOF . Its a bit to tight in the bust area... the fabric is a crinkle...

Burda Pants 7873 & One Piece Dress

This pair of pants was made using pattern 7873 from Burda. They are part of the Burda Young Fashion collection. I have found that if I use Burda Young patterns for pants I don't have to adjust the crotch curve or crotch length at all !!!! This was a very easy pattern... patch pockets, the zipper is easily put in because its meant to show....Instead of a fly or invisible. I added the back pocket flap to give my 'backside' more lift! An important thing!!!! Right! I will make these again but instead of making them skinny pants like the pattern I will widen the legs. One Piece Wearables is a fun book with lots of easy, fast projects. The halter dress and shrug on the right was made using patterns in this book... I don't really like this silhouette on me but its a comfortable dress for every day wear. I also made a top from this book I will have to remember to get a pic of... its so cute... and kinda hot! I have so many more things to post I've made lately!!!!! A dre...
