Happy B-day to my son! These are busy days!

My son, Brian turned 15 Monday! He loves his music (and he's quite talented at it!) so I bought him a new Gibson guitar, The Bald Man bought him a banjo and his Dad brought him this really cool drum back from Africa! My mom cooked up his favorite foods and I made him a chocolate chip cheesecake... yup, I think he had a good one! Now for some sewing... which I really have been doing alot of lately... just been lazy with the posting! Below is an OOP Vogue #2540. It was very easy to make (made this in a day!!)and I plan to make the other view soon. The bolero is copied from rtw. The necklace is a knitted rope with swavorski stones covering it... and I'm not sure I like it with the outfit. The fabric is a stretch black knit jersey with silver glitter throughout that I bought at Hobby Lobby last year on clearance ($2 a yd) The contrast fabric at the bottom of the skirt is another treasure from our trip last year to Panama. This skirt has SO much movement! Love that! This is NL 660...

More new outfits, more new embroidery!!!

Take one Cropped denim jacket from Goodwill.... add lace done on the embroidery machine...and Instant cuteness... I embroidered a lace cross and placed it on the pocket as well.. I love adding embroidered lace to clothes!!! Thats my favorite thing the embroidery machine does... LACE! Here's another top from this fab New Look pattern! This shirt is so easy to make.. and so cute!!The main fabric used came from Panama City, Panama,,, the lace from Wal Mart. The skirt was made from a BWOF pattern.. very simple.. but I did add a lining... I made a pair of pants to go with the shirt too... Pants pattern is a BWOF . The fabric used for the pants came from the fabulous Gail K's in ATL . Its a stretch flannel! Super comfy!! The outfit below.... The skirt came from my mom's stash.. it was a circle skirt pattern panel.. and it just doesn't get much easier than that! The top is a simple bias cut pattern from BWOF . Its a bit to tight in the bust area... the fabric is a crinkle...

Costume Crunch!

I was taking my time making a new dress for church this week. When Wed. I get an email from Sonja wanting mini skirt belly dance costumes for her and Rach for an upcoming photo shoot we are doing on Sunday... well... I can turn out some costumes when I want... but I haven't got all the 'stuff' I need to make the costumes... haven't researched out what 'vision' they have for a costume.. haven't put together what I think works and let them approve before I start... But here I am trying to pull 2 modern mini skirt belly dance costumes out of thin air! I'm feeling very Project Runway! To the left is what I have of Sonja's so far.... which I like... and I'm kinda wishing it was mine! I'm loving the color scheme and the use of black fancy net fabric. The cut outs on the side will more than likely have to be hand beaded.. which will be the main time consuming thing to do. It really needs to be "peppered" with rhinestones and I'm afr...
