The Afghan Coat

This OOP Mccalls Pattern uses 2 afghans to make a coat... and I just happened to have 2 afghans I was getting ready to throw in the 'go to Goodwill' box. I'm so glad I didn't!
I got the pattern at Goodwill for a dollar, the afghans for $10 a piece about 2 yrs ago.. so I feel like I got a heck of a deal with this coat...

Plus its just so cute... and warm! The pattern was SO easy! I serged each piece after I cut it out so it wouldn't fray. The hardest part was sewing these 2 thick layers together.
I used a denim needle after I broke a regular one and had no more problems.

I also added a loop and large button for a closure on the front.
Next time a find a cute afghan I would like to make the skirt in the pattern too... wouldn't that be awesome for a winter skirt!

Tunisian and Tapestry crochet on the hooks

It seems that no matter what or how many projects I have going one is always Tunisian and one is always a tapestry or fair isle type with color changes or pictures.  I love this tapestry handbag. It’s going to be The perfect bag for October!! The pattern was included in a booklet that cane with a Simply Crochet magazine from the UK. It’s eating a lot of yarn so Caron one pound yarn is perfect! Cause there’s a lot of it and it’s an easy care for acrylic. Handbags tend to get thrown around a lot so washable with all this white is super important when I was choosing a yarn.  I’ll be adding a liner too. And pockets .. Happy Days & Hard Work!

Hope everyone had a fabulous New Years Eve! We had a very nice one... got all dressed up and went to the 5 course dinner event at Chez Liberty... SO GOOD! I even tried a little dish with 'sweetbreads' and had NO ideal what they were... but it was so good after I found out what they were I didn't even care! Now how many people out there know what they are??? Was I alone at not knowing??? Then we Had a bottle of bubbles... And then, I admit, came home at 11 and went to bed! I was asleep before 12!! and it makes me feel like an old fuddy duddy ! haha !! But who cares! I was all dressed up in a dress that took me 3 weeks to make with a crochet bolero that took like a month!I love wearing this dress and rarely have an occasion for it.... besides I had to get up early the next morning... New Machine!!! and getting organized!

Here's my new baby... The babylock cover stitch machine!!! It runs quite, sews like a dream... For those of you who follow my blog you know I have the Babylock Evolve which has cover stitch abilities.. but I have to convert it.. and I'm lazy. I sew ALOT of knits!! So with the money I made off of a couple of costumes I bought this! And its love!!!! Adding a new machine means re-organizing my sewing rooms to make it work... so my stash got re organized too... check out how neat it looks now!! Actually we're re organizing alot of the rooms in our house... here's the Bald Man in his new office! LOL!!! You can't even walk in there! Also.. I joined the Sew Craft Blog !
