Zebra Jeans!

The "Zebra Jeans" ! I actually finished these last weekend. I am just now getting around to posting them.
Anyways... I used a 8 oz. stretch denim from fabric.com.
I'm not thrilled with the quality and think the denim will loose shape... which we all know happens with poor quality stretch denim... and honestly some higher stuff too.
I took some extra care in making these stretch jeans, and hopefully it will safe guard against... saggy butt jeans... saggy crotch and stretched out waist jeans.
After getting the crotch and back fitted the way I want I took hem tape and sewed it down to the front and back seams... I think I remember getting the tip from the Zapp Method book.
Then I sewed the hem tape down around the waist band too.
Here's to hoping they stay in shape... cause they're really cute and took along time to make!

Check out my side detail... cute, cute!!! The pattern from these jeans were copied from a pair of my RTW.
On the rtw pair there is a leather strip down the side.
No yoke and they have patch pockets... which I've said many times I love!!
The back pockets were copied from a different pair of rtw.
And I trimmed one pocket and appliqued the other.. and used my new sergers chain stitch with a 2 thread overlock narrow using a thick white rayon thread for trimming the pockets.

I wore this out Saturday night... I actually made this outfit last Oct. before I was blogging.
The bolero was from a Mccalls pattern... the pants were BWOF. The shirt is rtw... and I love it and plan to copy it before I completely wear it out!

Here is my little couch needle punch/knitting corner... my dogs like to hang out with me while I work on stuff . You see the routine has been disturbed though... Prada has decided she is tired of staying upstairs... poodles or not!
So here she is stalking the poodles, determined to show them who's boss and that she also rules the down stairs...
And now she does... the poodles what no part of the hissing, arching Prada... once they realized she is in charge.. they get along fairly well now.

A Great Weekend!

The Bald Man and I had a fantastic weekend! Friday we just kinda hung around the house.. watched a movie. Saturday was 'going out' night! We went couple of places and then ended up at the Mirage. Its been awhile since I've been there but we told Rach we would come see her dance. Here she is to the right in a bra and belt I made which looks great on her!! I hate to say it but I really don't like watching bellydancers after all the years of dancing myself and watching them. I find it boring... unless the dancer has what I call the "it" factor. Let me tell ya! Rach has the "it" factor! She sparkles and grows when she dances. Most people can learn to dance... but not everyone shines when they do it. I'll be back to see Rach dance again! Below we have a pic of Capt. Bald Man! Yesterday we took one of the boats out for a joy ride on Lake Loudon. We had fun... and some surprises along the way!! It was a beautiful day to be on the lake!!! Next Sunda...

New Machine!!! and getting organized!

Here's my new baby... The babylock cover stitch machine!!! It runs quite, sews like a dream... For those of you who follow my blog you know I have the Babylock Evolve which has cover stitch abilities.. but I have to convert it.. and I'm lazy. I sew ALOT of knits!! So with the money I made off of a couple of costumes I bought this! And its love!!!! Adding a new machine means re-organizing my sewing rooms to make it work... so my stash got re organized too... check out how neat it looks now!! Actually we're re organizing alot of the rooms in our house... here's the Bald Man in his new office! LOL!!! You can't even walk in there! Also.. I joined the Sew Craft Blog ! I'm in group three and looking forward to meeting new seamstresses and fiber artists!

I get new tops, the Bald Man gets a shirt!

Below is Burda 8116. A super easy tank top with a wrap topper. The pants are from BWOF. This was such an easy pattern!!! I made the below tank and topper in an hour... seriously! Ofcourse I must say having a cover stitch machine greatly speeds up sewing knits. In fact the day after I made these... I made 2 more tanks, another topper.... and the below view from the same pattern... a simple mock wrap top. The jeans were made last year from a pattern I copied from rtw. Anyways for those of you looking for a quick project... gotta get this pattern! Below here is NL 6429. It was easy too.... I actually made this last fall and never got to wear it... I wore it last night to Latino night at the Fairbanks.... good times! I wouldn't mind making another dress like this in some less 'fancy' fabric. Another shirt for my Bald Man... this was his B-day present... made once again using that wonderful Islander pattern. I embroidered a cross on the pocket... Some crosses on the sleeve... A...
