Jazzed up jeans, Felted bolero and purse...etc

This is what I'm working on today... putting this embroidery design up the leg of these boring jeans!

Here are my projects from yesterday!!! I am SO hooked on felting!!!! I love it! This cute bolero was a hideous sweater just 2 days ago and now look! And this adorable purse too... a sweater no one would have ever worn... is now stylish.. unique, and due the the nature of felting, one of a kind!!

The metallic threads and eyelash yarn on the bolero are not sewn on... they were punched in by the felting machine. So was the yarn trim on the purse. The felting machine has 5 needles and you have to be really careful not to pull your fabric out until the needles are all the way up and stopped, or you break the little expensive needles really easily...

Ask me how I know this! haha

While my embroidery works away I'm working on turning this once ugly dress into a cute "corset" type top...

I'm actually not feeling real confident about this project.. but if I ruin it, it was only $3 at Goodwill!

I did have a new costume for last night but don't have any pics I like of it... Here's Sam and Rach at the restaurant last night,, they are so fun! In the pic of Rach you can see Tony in his St. Patty's day outfit...complete with a blinking bow tie!! Gotta love that Tony!

Tunisian and Tapestry crochet on the hooks

It seems that no matter what or how many projects I have going one is always Tunisian and one is always a tapestry or fair isle type with color changes or pictures. I love this tapestry handbag. It’s going to be The perfect bag for October!! The pattern was included in a booklet that cane with a Simply Crochet magazine from the UK. It’s eating a lot of yarn so Caron one pound yarn is perfect! Cause there’s a lot of it and it’s an easy care for acrylic. Handbags tend to get thrown around a lot so washable with all this white is super important when I was choosing a yarn. I’ll be adding a liner too. And pockets .. I can not have a bag without inside pockets! For oh so long I’ve wanted to try the double hook Tunisian technique. I have Lily Chins dvd on it but she’s way over my head at this point! A Little Break... Back to Work!!!

My Bald Man and I took a little trip on the holiday weekend to Tellico Plains.. now growing up in Athens, TN I have been to the falls and river up there often.. but Bald Man, after living in TN for over 20 yrs had never been!!! Ofcourse we had to take Pac, he loves a good road trip! This is at the overlook going up to Indian Boundary Lake ... Down by Tellico river... Bald Man just had to 'test' the water and see how cold it was... yeah.. its pretty cold,,, mountain rivers typically are. Bald River Falls.... I am the first to admit we do not take advantage of living so close to such a beautiful area... many beautiful natural areas are so close to us ! I mean, in K town... we are so close to the Smokies,,, not far from lots of North Carolina mountain lakes.... we really should get out more and explore close to home. I used to enjoy hiking a bit... but after almost stepping right on a huge copper head up in Coker Creek I stopped... that was 16 yrs ago. I think it may be time to...

My 2017 Goals and planning to make 2018 even better!

2017 has been a wonderfully blessed year here. My husband fully got the Meishan registry off the ground and the Livestock conservancy was at our farm to look at them!! He was in Out Here magazine with them! And will be in the spring issue of Country side magazine also ! We got horses and started riding together for some much needed farm fun. I did a national seminar on milking donkeys! I found a sheep breed who's fleece I love and can also be milked that does well on my hilly rough lands! Score! All that is so wonderful!! But I had personal goals this year ! That was to get better at my favorite ever fiber art... Crochet!! When I really get my mind on accomplishing something I give it 100%. And well, expanding my crochet skills has been a lot more fun than my last 2 major goals.. which 7 years ago was to grow all our own food ( except coffee, chocolate and salt) mission accomplished! I'm not kidding And I hope I never have to do it again!! absolutely the hardest most stressf...
