Ugly on purpose

You know how sometimes designers make clothes that are really ugly on purpose... but no one cares that its ugly because someone fabulous made it.. or someone famous wore something like it so now its trendy.
And the critics give the ugly outfit rave reviews because the designer is SO creative!!!
Well, I've decided thats what this shirt is all about... its not finished in the picture.... and its ugly on purpose....
Ok... not on purpose. What happened was I decide its time to introduce the other color into my SWAP... after adding some red thread couching to the jacket I made,, its time for the red!
My Swap is browns, blacks, tans for the base...turquiose and red for my jewel colors... I love red and turquiose together!!
Anyways back to the ugly on purpose top. I ordered this pattern you see above... its from Peggy Sagers Sihouette patterns. Its unique because it has different pattern pieces for cup sizes... B-D.
I'm thinking "wow, this should be a great fit!" I always have to alter patterns to fit my D's. And sometimes still doesn't fit quite right....
The pattern was pretty expensive.. but if it fits! who cares... will it was the most terrible fitting top I've ever made! The shoulder seams were to big, it still pulled at the arm holes, no matter that I used a huge pattern piece meant for Dcups... the neckline looks great in the pic on the pattern... the cute little model.. probably with small B's... on my chest it looked uneven because of the pull at the sides.. the heavy neckline also pulled down at the to big shoulder seems, then bunched up and kinda layed on my chest... and it just looked down right sloppy on me....
So I took off the neck piece.. then I have a huge gapping neck line... I try trimming it with some decorative overlock threads and it just got more terrible looking. There's just to much fabric in all the wrong places on this shirt.. so I V-necked it... and pulled fabric up into gathers to meet the V... so this is looking ok... and I take about 4 inchs off the waist!
But the back neck line has ALL this gapping and extra fabic too.... so even with the huge Vneck I've created I still have more that enough room to pull the neck back, the huge should seams meet and I keyhole it... still lots of loose fabric hanging down my back... so I gather it up to the keyhole.... its ugly.... but I decide its just done... and its ugly on purpose... like I'm sooo creative and such a designer... hahaha.
And no more Peggy Sagers patterns for me!
And I really wish blogspot.com would get the spell check button fixed!!!

Happy Days & Hard Work!

Hope everyone had a fabulous New Years Eve! We had a very nice one... got all dressed up and went to the 5 course dinner event at Chez Liberty... SO GOOD! I even tried a little dish with 'sweetbreads' and had NO ideal what they were... but it was so good after I found out what they were I didn't even care! Now how many people out there know what they are??? Was I alone at not knowing??? Then we Had a bottle of bubbles... And then, I admit, came home at 11 and went to bed! I was asleep before 12!! and it makes me feel like an old fuddy duddy ! haha !! But who cares! I was all dressed up in a dress that took me 3 weeks to make with a crochet bolero that took like a month!I love wearing this dress and rarely have an occasion for it.... besides I had to get up early the next morning... And face things like this...... at our farm to be.... Now this is actually Sunday when my wonderful parents and niece Brittany stopped by to help.. but the day before it was just me and the...

Marathon cooking Monday!

I am very much in to healthy whole food eating. But if I don't plan some meals.. Especially lunches I grab easy things like nuts or a green juice.. not enough to keep this body going! something I started a few weeks ago on Monday was what I call marathon cooking. I make up a couple of high protein desserts and snacks , a couple of easy things for a few lunches and dinner with enough leftovers for the next days dinner or more lunches. A couple hours in the kitchen and solid healthy food for days! While things are in baking/cooking mode I use that down time to organize patterns , work a simple project or promote/check social media. Don't let ok at it as, yuck 2 hours of cooking .. I look at it as 2 productive hours of multitasking.  Today's marathon cooking consisted of,, simple egg salad that we like put on a low carb wrap with spinach. Huge Baked sweet potatoes which I'll cut in half and eat for lunch or a snack with butter and goat cheese mashed up! Super yum!  A huge ...

Knocking it off dress

I feel in love with this Chanel look last spring.... so instead of making a Chanel jacket I decided to put that time toward knocking this off the best I could.... I am pleased with my results! Fabric from Miami's Rex Fabrics for the top..... and ofcourse fabric for the jacket and skirt... I found a close to perfect match at walmart! Of all places! Add so hip chain belts and here is my knock off! I made the skirt longer than the original.... and no collar on the little jacket... lower neckline on the top... and a bit longer on it too.... I have several other Chanel outfits I want to knock off too... soon as I can find similar fabrics for them! I had fun with this outfit and fun wearing it! Next V8489.... I bought this fabric on a trip to Panama City, Panama. This was an easy pattern and I will use it again in the future. I added a personal touch to the dress but it didn't photograph at all... asymmetrical from shoulder across the waist and to bottom I hand beaded swarvoski crys...
