S3921... Don't like it either....

To say I don't like it is only half true... I like view A... View A is wonderful! View E, however, not so much...

You see it starts out as a bolero... but I had to adjust it SO many times it ended up being a shrug! That's what I get for making something to go with the hateful Vogue pants!!! Which I have decided are okay...

I mean the "shrug" is nice... but some thing I was expecting to take a couple of hours took 3 and half!!!!!

Here's the first thing wrong... I decided to add a lining to it... I wanted it to have more "body"!!! (stupid me!) I can't even go into detail how awful this went... I do not get along with linings. I need to accept this....

After getting the lining worked out... I go to attach the collar... now I don't know what happened but this collar was about 5 inches to short!!! What did I do wrong??? I admit I didn't follow directions.. I mean its just a bolero... what could go wrong??? Right! Anyways I make sure I cut out the right collar, checked directions... nothing wrong. It should have fit! In the pictures on the instrutions the collar fits!!!!

I cut some off the jacket... its still looking good... and I attach the collar... good!

Then I have this fabulous ideal! I'll make some binding from the pants fabric to go around the edges instead of using ribbon.... this was a huge mistake!!! The pants fabric was way to thick to be binding!!! it was hideous. If I had be on Project Runway Micheal Kors would have turned up his nose at me and said "it just looks so homemade" and Nina would say "its just so poorly constructed" and Heidi would have said "you're out!"

In a moment of weakness I cut the whole thing up to the collar,,, finished it with a rolled hem using some metallic thread. DONE!!! Now its a shrug!

THEN... I turned on the mighty embroidery machine and added some 9mm decorative stitching to the collar and the sleeves.... and I'm happy with it..... so long as no one sees the lining!!!!

Tunisian and Tapestry crochet on the hooks

It seems that no matter what or how many projects I have going one is always Tunisian and one is always a tapestry or fair isle type with color changes or pictures. I love this tapestry handbag. It’s going to be The perfect bag for October!! The pattern was included in a booklet that cane with a Simply Crochet magazine from the UK. It’s eating a lot of yarn so Caron one pound yarn is perfect! Cause there’s a lot of it and it’s an easy care for acrylic. Handbags tend to get thrown around a lot so washable with all this white is super important when I was choosing a yarn. I’ll be adding a liner too. And pockets .. I can not have a bag without inside pockets! For oh so long I’ve wanted to try the double hook Tunisian technique. I have Lily Chins dvd on it but she’s way over my head at this point! A Little Break... Back to Work!!!

My Bald Man and I took a little trip on the holiday weekend to Tellico Plains.. now growing up in Athens, TN I have been to the falls and river up there often.. but Bald Man, after living in TN for over 20 yrs had never been!!! Ofcourse we had to take Pac, he loves a good road trip! This is at the overlook going up to Indian Boundary Lake ... Down by Tellico river... Bald Man just had to 'test' the water and see how cold it was... yeah.. its pretty cold,,, mountain rivers typically are. Bald River Falls.... I am the first to admit we do not take advantage of living so close to such a beautiful area... many beautiful natural areas are so close to us ! I mean, in K town... we are so close to the Smokies,,, not far from lots of North Carolina mountain lakes.... we really should get out more and explore close to home. I used to enjoy hiking a bit... but after almost stepping right on a huge copper head up in Coker Creek I stopped... that was 16 yrs ago. I think it may be time to...

The "Panama Dress"!

Here is my "Panama Dress" from fabric I bought in... yes Panama! Its actually a skirt and top but it does look like a dress. No pattern, all draped. The skirt is made up of 4 separate long triangle panels that are that are rounded at the bottom. There's ALOT of movement in the skirt. The top is a fitted band around the waist and the top bust part is only attached in the back and at the sides so the bust part makes a pretty drape and I could get the waist part super tight and fitted. I hand knit the belt out of some beautiful copper yarn I got up in Philly and attached it to the skirt. The purse is some fabric I got at the sewing expo last year and is covered in tiny black poodles. It draws up at the top and through a little black crocheted doily I made that I covered in crystals. The pattern for the purse is called Circle Purse and I can't remember the designer!!! Someone asked me where I bought this dress when I wore it out last Tues. and yes I beamed when I said ...
